I've been using this for ~8 years.. one of those programs which i'm ready to pay for, but it's free

doesn't matter what you do on your computer.. we all have photos and graphics on our drives, so i'd say this is a must have for everyone.
the only decent alternative is ACDSee, but it's not even close to XnView's simplicity and usability.

the reason I have been using xnview a while ago was the possibility to preview .ai files. Seems FSviewer doesnt support that. Standard picture viewer for me is Irfan view, also freeware. Doesn't support ai files either. Thanx for the Xnview reminder though. wink

The MAC version of XnView looks very old-stylish but isn't so bad. For Mac users there are some newer Image viewing programs, also Freeware as "ViewIt" or "Sequential". "iView MediaPro" is still one of the best.

I like Irfanview also. Quick, and low resource use... and you can expand it to some amazing functionality with plugins.

I've been using ACDSee & Irfanview for a looong time,,. but now I'm switching to Ubuntu + [Virtually Emulated] Windows, so it's time to explore new ways. I'll have a try at XnView and FastStone...

The best image viewer to me is the old (and windows based) ACDSee v3.0. I even wrapped into wineskin to use it as a native Mac app ... until i discovered Lyn (which to me is the more closer program to ACDSee 3.0 and the best image viewer under Mac OSX (not free though! )).
